Stalybridge

A relatively quiet and peaceful alternative to Ashton. Higher class. More age-limited bars. Fewer shops. The council decided that the market had to go about 5 years ago, and there's a canal through the middle. Tesco currently infest the centre of the town, yet the local shops are doing a good trade, perhaps because of the large amount of parking that Tesco had to build. Holder of several records and famous events, including both the shortest and longest pub names in Britain. Home to Samuel laycock. It's said that Pope Benedict once visited the town whilst in training for the priesthood.

A great village but with it's fair share of scumbags. And watch out for Miss Radcliffe of 468 Huddersfield Rd... full of STD's and an attitude to match.
